Acrisure Stadium Parking: Where to Park on the North Shore

Updated January 28, 2026 | By Mike Kowalski, Season Ticket Holder

The cheapest parking near Acrisure Stadium is the Carnegie Science Center lot at $25-30, located a 10-minute walk from the east gates. The closest lots sit on the North Shore for $40-50. But the smartest option for many fans is to park downtown and walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which closes to traffic on game days and becomes a pedestrian-only celebration.

Understanding the North Shore Layout

Acrisure Stadium sits on Pittsburgh's North Shore, across the Allegheny River from downtown. It shares the area with PNC Park (Pirates) and the Rivers Casino. The stadium holds 68,400 fans, and on game days, the entire North Shore transforms into a massive tailgate party.

Pittsburgh's geography creates unique challenges and opportunities. The stadium sits at the confluence of three rivers, connected to downtown by multiple bridges. Crossing those bridges during game traffic takes patience. But walking across them takes five minutes and delivers one of the best pre-game experiences in the NFL.

I have held season tickets since 2008. I have parked on the North Shore, in downtown, across the river in the South Side, and at the T stations. Every option has trade-offs.

Official Stadium Lots

The Steelers organization controls the lots immediately surrounding Acrisure Stadium. These lots require advance purchase through the Steelers app or Ticketmaster.

Official Lot Pricing (2026 Season)

  • Gold Lots (Stadium Adjacent): $50-75 (closest to gates, sells out fast)
  • Red Lots (North Shore): $35-50 (moderate walk, tailgating allowed)
  • Blue Lots (Outer North Shore): $25-35 (10-15 min walk)

Lots open four hours before kickoff. Tailgating is a Pittsburgh institution. Charcoal grills, generators, and elaborate setups are not just allowed but expected. The smell of kielbasa and pierogies fills the air hours before game time.

Third-Party North Shore Lots

Local businesses along General Robinson Street and near the Rivers Casino operate parking lots on game days. Quality and pricing vary.

Carnegie Science Center

Price: $25-30
Walk time: 10-12 minutes
Vibe: Paved lot, family-friendly, easy exit

The Science Center lot sits east of the stadium along the river. It offers easy access and a pleasant walk along the riverwalk. Families with kids often park here because the lot is well-lit and organized.

Rivers Casino Garage

Price: $30-40
Walk time: 5-8 minutes
Bonus: Climate-controlled, pre-game gambling

The casino garage offers covered parking directly adjacent to the stadium. Many fans park here, grab a drink at the casino bar, then walk to the game. The exit after the game flows toward Route 65 north, avoiding the worst downtown traffic.

The Downtown Strategy

The cheapest and often most enjoyable option is to park downtown and walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

On game days, the Roberto Clemente Bridge (Sixth Street Bridge) closes to vehicle traffic. It becomes a pedestrian walkway filled with fans in black and gold, vendors selling Terrible Towels, and street musicians. The walk takes five minutes and delivers stunning views of the stadium and rivers.

  • Downtown garage pricing: $10-20 on Sundays
  • Walk time: 10-15 minutes (including bridge crossing)
  • Best garages: First Avenue Garage, Wood Street Garage, Smithfield Street lots

Pro tip: Park near Market Square. After the game, walk back across the bridge and grab a drink at one of the bars around the Square while traffic clears.

The T (Light Rail)

Pittsburgh's T light rail system runs along the North Shore to the stadium. For fans coming from the South Hills, this eliminates bridge traffic entirely.

  • North Side Station: 2-minute walk to stadium
  • Fare: $2.75 each way
  • Park-and-ride options: South Hills Village, Library stations

The T gets crowded after games. But it moves steadily and beats sitting in bridge traffic for 45 minutes. Locals who live south of the city swear by this option.

Traffic and Exit Strategy

Exiting the North Shore after a Steelers game requires patience. The bridges create bottlenecks. The Fort Duquesne Bridge to I-279 backs up first. The Fort Pitt Tunnel slows anyone heading south.

Fastest exit strategies:

  • Leave during the fourth quarter if the game is decided.
  • Wait 45-60 minutes after the game. Tailgate in the lot or hit a bar.
  • Exit via Route 65 north if heading to the North Hills.
  • Take the T if heading to the South Hills.
  • Walk to Station Square via the Smithfield Street Bridge and grab dinner while traffic clears.
