Located on the Museum Campus right on Lake Michigan, Soldier Field blends historic 1924 colonnades with a modern bowl interior. It is the smallest stadium in the NFL, which makes tickets hard to get but ensures every seat is close to the action.
Bear Weather
The "Hawk" wind off Lake Michigan is real. In December and January, the wind chill can drop well below zero. This is where legends are made (and kickers are broken).
Bring cardboard to stand on. The concrete floor sucks the heat out of your boots. Standing on a piece of cardboard creates insulation for your feet. Trust us on this.
Tailgating
The South Lot and Waldron Deck are the premier spots. You need a specific coupon/pass to park here, and they are valuable commodities. The atmosphere is smoky with grills and filled with deep dish pizza and Italian beef.
Transportation
Metra/L Train: The Roosevelt Station (Red/Orange/Green lines) is the main hub. From there, it's a scenic 15-minute walk through the park to the stadium. Or take the shuttle from Millennium Park garages for a warm ride.
Food Landmarks
- DMK Burger Bar: Grass-fed burgers inside the stadium. A huge upgrade from standard fare.
- Italian Beef: Available at most concessions. Order it "dipped" with hot peppers for the authentic Chicago experience.
